Pleihari Tanah Laut Wildlife Reserve comprises an area of 6,000 ha in South Kalimantan province. Around 90% of the area is relatively flat and swampy. The remaining 10% is hilly with Gunung Tunggal as the highest peak (102m). The flat area consists of mangrove forest and freshwater swamp including swampy grasslands and swampy forest. Sandy beaches along the coast provide nesting sites for sea-turtles.

The wildlife reserve is home to many species of birds such as variety of kingfishers, egrets, shorebirds, doves, and others. The area is also rich in mammals including clouded leopards, banded linsang, proboscis monkeys, long tail macaques, silvery langurs, wild boars, sambar and barking deers, and others mammals. It is supplemented by reptiles include the estuarine crocodiles, varanus monitor lizards, green and hawksbill turtles.


Day 01 ARRIVAL IN BANJARMASIN – TRADITIONAL DIAMOND DIGGING – PLEIHARI

Meet at airport and directly transfer to Cempaka vilage to explore people dig hole and take the material out to find rough diamond in a traditional diamond digging. Next, driving for about 1 hour to Bajuin forest to do a soft trekking into the waterfall and enjoying the beautiful of Meratus mountain from the hill. If we are lucky, we can meet troop of monkeys and species of birds on this trails. Afterwards, proceed to Pleihari town for check in to a local hotel. Lunch and dinner will be served on local restaurants. (L,D)


Day 02 PLEIHARI – PLEIHARI TANAH LAUT WILDLIFE RESERVE – BANJARMASIN

After breakfast, we will drive to Jorong sub-district to catch our boat to cross the romantic river for spotting crocodiles, proboscis monkeys, langurs, birds, and other wild animals. Arrive at the beach then we can do activities such as; exploring the fisherman daily life, sun bathing, fishing, or cooking together with the crew for a fish barbeque of the white sandy beach. In the afternoon, we will drive back to Banjarmasin crossing rice fields and beautiful landscape. Arrive in Banjarmasin and directly check in to hotel. (B,L,D)


Day 03 FLOATING MARKET – JUMPUN PAMBELOM – BUKIT TANGKILING – PALANGKA RAYA

Early in the morning, we will leave to floating market to explore the unique culture of Banjarese that trade commodities from boat to boat, then return to hotel crossing Banjarmasin River while sightseeing people activities at riverside. We will then continue our trip by driving across the beautiful peat swamp forest landscape to reach Jumpun Pambelom for observing the reforestation project on the peat swamp area. If we are lucky, we can meet wild orangutan and other wild animals on this small forest. Next, visiting the Bukit Tangkiling Nature Reserve to hike up the hill enjoying beautiful view of plain and rivers from the top as well as the romantic sunset outlook. Afterwards, proceed to the hotel for overnight. (B,L)


Day 04 PALANGKA RAYA – ORANGUTAN ISLAND – AIRPORT

After breakfast, we will proceed to Tangkiling port for catching our motorized canoe to reach Orangutan Island while sightseeing the beautiful natural black river and rainforest around, just keep an eye out for monkeys and birds. Free at your own leisure till the proper time for transferring to Palangka Raya airport for your flight next destination. (B)

Borneo Wildlife Adventure II

Duration: 06 Days/05 Nights

Borneo is conservatively estimated to hold 222 mammals, including 44 endemic which is not found anywhere else in the world, 420 resident birds with 37 is endemic, 100 amphibians and more than 400 species of fish (19 endemic). This mighty island is also home to thousands of plants, lichens and fungi, which in turn form the base of a food chain that nurtures a wide array of species. At least 15,000 plants of which 6,000 species are found nowhere else in the world. The swamps, mangroves, and lowland and montane forests are the characteristic of the island. The flora and fauna of Borneo is very colorful and various, scattered from the high ground into the lowest level of this mighty island. They are magnificent and attract many scientist and travelers to come and be fascinated.


Day 01  ARRIVAL IN PALANGKA RAYA – BUKIT TANGKILING NATURE RESERVE – PALANGKA RAYA

Meet at airport and directly transfer to hotel for check in. In the peaceful afternoon, we will visit Arboretum Nyaru Menteng to explore the endemic vegetation of peat swamp forest and some wild animals such as; birds, monitor lizards, black leaf monkeys, and other animals that emerge occasionally. Next, we will proceed to Bukit Tangkiling Nature Reserve to hike up the hill to enjoy beautiful view of plain and rivers from the top as well as the romantic sunset outlook. Afterwards, return to the hotel for overnight. (L)


Day 02  PALANGKA RAYA – ORANGUTAN ISLAND  – JUMPUN PAMBELOM – BANJARMASIN

Day 03  FLOATING MARKET – KINTAP

Early in the morning, we will leave to floating market to explore the unique culture of Banjarese that trade commodities from boat to boat, then return to hotel crossing Banjarmasin River while sightseeing people activities at riverside. Afterwards, we will drive for about 3 hours to Kintap town crossing beautiful landscape of Meratus Mountain. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight at local hotel in Kintap town. Day 04  KINTAP – PAGATAN BEACH

After breakfast, we will catch our boat to cruise the Asam River to spot crocodiles, proboscis monkeys, langurs, birds, and other wild animals. Afterwards, proceed to Pagatan beach for overnight at the beach cottage. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on the cottage. (B,L,D)


Day 05  PAGATAN BEACH – GOA LIANG KALIH – SUNGAI DURIAN – KOTABARU

After breakfast, we will drive  to Goa Liang Kalih for trekking through the earth to observe the beautiful stalagmites and stalactites of the limestone cave. Next, proceed to Sungai Durian to explore wonderful karst range along the road. Afterwards, we will be driving to Kotabaru for check in to hotel. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight at local hotel in Kotabaru. (B,L,D)


Day 06  KOTABARU – DEPARTURE

Breakfast at hotel and free at own leisure till the proper time for transferring to airport for your next destination. (B)

Borneo is the third largest island in the world. Its landscape and wildlife are diverse spreading from high mountains into low land and rugged coastlines. Most of the island is covered with dense ancient tropical rainforest. Home to the rare and endangered wildlife includes the orangutans, pygmy elephants, proboscis monkeys, flying frogs, crocodiles, sun bears, and other rare species.

The tropical rainforest of Borneo is one of the richest biodiversity on Earth. Nearly 11,000 species of flowering plants, about a third of these are indigenous. In one 6.5 hectare area of Borneo’s lowland tropical rainforest, over 700 species of trees can be recorded. Few other places have this kind of variety.


Day 01 ARRIVAL IN BANJARMASIN – SUNGAI RUTAS – LOKSADO

Meet at airport and directly transfer to Sungai Rutas village to get our boat cruising the romantic river to spot wildlife such as proboscis monkeys, long tailed macaque, silvery langurs, birds, monitor lizards, and other wild animals on the riverside as well as the daily activities of local people. Afterwards, driving to Loksado across the beautiful swampy and lowland landscape into the plateau of Meratus mountain. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight at lodge in Loksado. (L,D)


Day 02 JUNGLE TREK

Proceed to explore jungle and Dayak land crossing primary and secondary rainforest, hills, waterfall, hanging and suspended bamboo bridges, villager farmlands, rivers and cascades, longhouses, cinnamon and rubber trees. In the afternoon, we will back to the lodge through other trail with different beauties of nature. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on lodge. (B,L,D)


Day 03 BAMBOO RAFTING – PAGATAN BEACH

After breakfast, we will take an adventure trip of bamboo rafting across beautiful landscape of tropical rainforest along the Amandit riverside meanwhile our coach will be waiting on the downstream for driving to Pagatan beach for overnight at the beach cottage. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on the cottage. (B,L,D)


Day 04 PAGATAN BEACH – ASAM RIVER – BANJARMASIN

Enjoy the wonderful morning at the beach resort while having breakfast. We will then driving to Asam River for catching our boat to cruise the romantic Asam River river to spot crocodiles, proboscis monkeys, langurs, birds, and other wild animals. Afterwards, proceed to Banjarmasin for overnight at hotel. (B,L,D)

Borneo Wildlife Adventure IV

The Borneo island plays host to an enormous assortment of uniquely endangered wildlife, such as the charming and gentle orangutans, colorful proboscis monkeys, and noisy gibbons.

The Flora and fauna abound on this paradise-like sanctuary, with a staggering 15,000 species of flowering plants and 3,000 tree types, in addition to rare orchid and 12 species of rafflesia (the world’s largest flower).

Borneo has about 222 species of terrestrial mammals, 420 species of resident birds, and more than 3,000 species of anthropod fauna with 1,000 species of it are ants. There are also about 300 species of reptile, 100 species of amphibian, and 440 freshwater fish species which is about the same as Sumatra and Java combined. All of these contributes to what is called as an incredibly diverse area that can make for an ultimate Borneo wildlife tours to remember.

The orangutan island is managed by Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOSF) for orangutan rehabilitation before releasing to the wild. We will then driving accross beautiful landscape of peat swamp forest into Kereng Pakahi Port to cross the Katingan River while sightseeing wildlife such as proboscis monkeys, kingfishers, hornbills, long tailed maccaques, etc. Afterwards, proceed to Sebangau National Park through Punggu Alas creek for check in to homestay. In a very dry condition of the creek, we have to trek for about 1,5 hours to reach the homestay at WWF Visitor Centre in the national park. In the peaceful evening, we can do a night boating with hope to see nocturnal animals such as birds, snakes, insects, etc. (B,L,D)


Day 06 SEBANGAU NATIONAL PARK – PALANGKA RAYA

After breakfast on the creekside, we will do trekking with ranger into the jungle to explore flora and fauna such as orangutans, monkeys, birds, endemic vegetation, etc. Return to the camp for having lunch and take a rest. In the afternoon, we will check out the homestay and proceed back to Palangka Raya for check in to local hotel. (B,L,D)

Borneo Widlife Adventure V

The Central Borneo Orangutans (Pongo Pygmaeus Wurmbii) are found in South-west Kalimantan, south of the Kapuas River, Sebangau River, Katingan River, and area of the Barito River including the small part of South Kalimantan Province. The central subspecies is the most common of the Borneo sub-species, it is around 38,000 individuals with an extensive, yet increasingly fragmented distribution in the swamp and lowland dipterocarp forests of central Kalimantan. Sizeable populations of the Pongo Pygmaeus Wurmbii Orangutans are found in Tanjung Puting National Park, Sebangau National Park, and Barito areas of central and South Kalimantan, Gunung Palung National Park of West Kalimantan and the forests that stretch along the border between the two provinces of West Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan.


Day 01 ARRIVAL IN PALANGKA RAYA – SEBANGAU NATIONAL PARK

Arrive at Palangka Raya airport with morning flight and directly driving across beautiful landscape of peat swamp forest into Kereng Pakahi Port to cross the Katingan River while exploring wildlife such as proboscis monkey, kingfishers, hornbills, maccaques, etc. Afterwards, proceed to Sebangau National Park through Punggu Alas creek for check in to homestay. In a dry condition of the creek, we have to trek about 1,5 hours to reach the homestay at WWF Visiting Center in the national park. In the peaceful evening, we can do night boating with hope to see nocturnal animals such as birds, snakes, insects, etc. (L,D)


Day 02 SEBANGAU NATIONAL PARK – PALANGKA RAYA

After breakfast on the creekside, we will do trekking with ranger into the jungle to explore flora and fauna such as orangutans, monkeys, birds, endemic vegetation, etc. Return to the camp for having lunch and take a rest. In the afternoon, we will check out the homestay and proceed back to Palangka Raya for check in to local hotel. (B,L,D)


Day 03 PALANGKA RAYA – ORANGUTAN ISLAND – TAMIYANG LAYANG

After breakfast, we will proceed to Tangkiling port for catching our motorized canoe to reach the Orangutan Island while sightseeing the romantic river and rainforest around, just keep an eye out for monkeys and birds.The Orangutan Island is managed by Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOSF) for orangutan rehabilitation before releasing to the wild. Day 04 TAMIYANG LAYANG – BLACK ORCHID FOREST – SUNGAI RUTAS – LOKSADO

After breakfast, we will proceed to Paju Epat district for a soft trekking in the protected forest to explore the rare black orchid, pitcher plants, and other vegetation. Next, proceed to Sungai Rutas village crossing fascinating swamp and lowland landscape. Arrive at the village and crossing the romantic river to spot wildlife such as proboscis monkey, long tailed macaque, silvery langur, bird, monitor lizard, and other wild animals on the riverside as well as the daily activities of local people. Afterwards, driving to Loksado for staying overnight on lodge. (B,L,D)
