Day 01 ARRIVAL IN BANJARMASIN

Meet at airport and directly transfer to hotel for check in. In the afternoon, we will cruise downward the Barito River to the estuary for exploring the fascinating mangrove forest which is inhabited by proboscis monkeys, silvery langurs, long tailed maccaques, and species of birds. Return to hotel crossing beautiful rice field, forest, and remote villages. Free at your own leisure.


Day 02 FLOATING MARKET – BELANGIAN – SUNGAI BESAR

Early in the morning, we will leave to floating market for exploring the unique culture of Banjarese that trade commodities from boat to boat, then return to hotel crossing Banjarmasin River while sightseeing people activities at riverside. Next, proceed to Aranio small port for cruising upward the Riam Kanan Lake to reach Belangian village while sighting beautiful mountainous scenery, floating fishing ponds, and boat making as well as species of bird fly over the lake. Afterwards, we will be trekking to Sungai Besar for finding a good place to set a campsite. (B,L,D)


Day 03 JUNGLE TREK

After breakfast, we will be trekking to Riam Cemara crossing villager farmlands, rivers and cascades, meadow, hills, primary and secondary rainforest. Next, continue trekking to Kahung valley waterfall with almost the same characteristic. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on bivouac/tent. (B,L,D)


Day 04 JUNGLE TREK – BELANGIAN – BANJARMASIN

After breakfast, proceed to Belangian village for cruising downward to Riam Kanan small port and directly transfer to Banjarmasin for overnight on hotel. (B,L,D)

Sultan Adam Forest Park is known as Tahura Sultan Adam is one of forest area located in South Borneo. It is one of the tourist attractions which offers natural beauty mountain and tropical rainforest. A forest measuring 112,000 hectares and located in two districts, Banjar and Tanah Laut, has been set as the Grand Forest Park of Indonesia under a Presidential Decree No. 52 of 1989. The dorest park consists of several areas, including the Riam Kanan Protected Forest covering an area of 55,000 hectares, the Kinain Buak covering an area of 13,000 hectares, the Pelaihari Wildlife Reserve covering an area of 36,400 hectares. The area of Kahung Valley which is part of the Sultan Adam Forest Park known as one of the best place for a jungle trekking in Borneo. This area is part of Meratus Mountains and as one of the primary forests which is rarely touched by people, stores hundreds to thousands of typical species of flora and fauna, includes; meranti wood (Shorea spp.), ulin (Eusideroxylon zwageri), kahingai (Santiria tomentosa), damar (Dipterocarpus spp.), pampahi (Ilexsimosa spp.), kuminjah laki (Memecylon leavigatum), keruing (Dipterocarpus grandiflorus), mawai (Caethocarpus grandiflorus), jambukan (Mesia sp.), kasai(Arthocarpus kemando) and many more. The fauna includes; gibbon (Hylobates muelleri), Javan Lutung (Trachypithecus auratus), sun bear (Helarctos malayanus), Sambar deer (Cervus unicolor), Muntjacs (Muntiacus muntjak), Bornean yellow muntjac (Muntiacus atherodes), Java mouse deer (Tragulus javanicus), and many more.


Day 01 ARRIVAL IN BANJARMASIN – BELANGIAN – SUNGAI BESAR

Arrive at Banjarmasin airport with morning or noon flight and directly driving to Aranio port for crossing upward the Riam Kanan Lake to reach Belangian village while sighting beautiful mountainous scenery, floating fishing ponds, and boat making as well as species of bird fly over the lake. Afterwards, we will be trekking across meadow, rivers, and hills to Sungai Besar for finding a good place to set a campsite. (L,D)


Day 02 JUNGLE TREK

After breakfast, we will be trekking across villager farmlands, meadow, rivers, hills, primary and secondary rainforest. In the afternoon, we will arrive in Sungai Balum to set our campsite on riverside. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on bivouac/tent. (B,L,D)


Day 03 JUNGLE TREK

After breakfast, we will trek crossing rivers, hills, and primary forest into our next campsite. On the trails, we will have opportunity to explore the beautiful flora and fauna along the trek. In the afternoon, we will set a campsite in the middle of the jungle for more exploring the fascinating atmosphere of the nature. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on bivouac/tent. Day 04 JUNGLE TREK  – TANJUNG VILLAGE – KINTAP

After breakfast, we will trek down to the Tanjung village crossing primary and secondary forest, meadow, and villagers farmland. Arrive in Tanjung village and directly driving to Kintap town for check in to local hotel. Lunch will be served en route, dinner at local restaurant, and staying overnight on local hotel. (B,L,D)


Day 05 KINTAP – ASAM RIVER – BANJARMASIN

After breakfast, we will catch our boat to cruise the Asam River to spot crocodiles, proboscis monkeys, langurs, birds, and other wild animals. Afterwards, driving to Banjarmasin for overnight on hotel. Lunch and dinner will be at local restaurants, and staying overnight on hotel. (B,L,D)


Day 06 FLOATING MARKET – JUMPUN PAMBELOM – PALANGKA RAYA

Early morning, we leave to floating market to explore unique culture of Banjarese that trade commodities from boat to boat, then return to hotel crossing Banjarmasin River while sightseeing people activities at riverside. Next, driving across beautiful peat swamp forest landscape to reach Jumpun Pambelom to see the reforestation project on peat swamp area. If we are lucky, we will meet wild orangutan and other animals on this small forest. We will then continue our trip to Bukit Tangkiling Nature Reserve to hike up the hill for enjoying beautiful view of plain and rivers from the top as well as the romantic sunset outlook. Afterwards, proceed to the hotel for overnight. (B,L)


Day 07 PALANGKA RAYA – ORANGUTAN ISLAND – DEPARTURE

After breakfast, we will proceed to Tangkiling port for catching our motorized canoe to reach Orangutan Island while sightseeing the beautiful natural black river and rainforest around, just keep an eye out for monkeys and birds. Free at your own leisure till the proper time for transferring to airport for your next destination. (B)

Borneo Pygmy Elephant Trekking

Duration: 07 Days/06 Nights

The Borneo elephant is a sub-species of Asian elephant which includes the Indian elephant, the Sumatran elephant, the Sri-Lanka elephant, and the Borneo elephant. The Borneo elephant is also known as the Borneo Pygmy Elephant as it is the smallest of the elephant sub-species. The Borneo elephant is found exclusively on the island of Borneo in the Malaysian state of Sabah and part of Indonesian Kalimantan. Much of the Borneo elephants natural habitat has been destroyed to make way for palm oil plantations and timber industry, and there are now thought to be less than 1,000 Borneo elephant individuals left in Sabah and the Northern of Kalimantan. Today, the Borneo elephant is considered to be an animal that is in immediate danger of becoming extinct due to the fact that Borneo elephant populations have been declining at a critical rate. Borneo elephants are thought to be suffering primarily due to habitat loss in the form of deforestation and hunting for their ivory tusks by poachers.


Day 01 ARRIVAL IN TARAKAN – MALINAU

Meet at airport and directly driving to the port for crossing upward the Kayan River to Malinau by public speed boat for about 3 hours of which the fresh water dolphins, proboscis monkeys, and birds emerge occasionally along the delta of Sesayap River. Afterwards, proceed to a local hotel for overnight. Free at your own leisure. (L,D)


Day 02 MALINAU – BALATIKON – AGISON RIVER

After breakfast at local hotel, we will then driving across rainforest and mountainous landscape to reach Balatikon village to catch the boat for crossing the Agison River while exploring flora and fauna on riverside. In the afternoon, we will set our campsite nearby the river. (B,L,D)


Day 03 BORNEO PYGMY ELEPHANT TRACKING

After breakfast, we will start our Borneo Pygmy Elephant Trekking by crossing rivers, hills, and wilderness to track the Borneo pygmy elephants by searching the foot prints that can lead us to the group of elephants. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and staying overnight at jungle camp. (B,L,D)


Day 04 BORNEO PYGMY ELEPHANT TRACKING

Breakfast at the camp and then trekking deeper into the wilderness to search the Borneo Pygmy Elephants and other wild animals. The trekking trails is more or less with previous day. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and staying overnight at jungle camp. (B,L,D)


Day 05 BORNEO PYGMY ELEPHANT TRACKING

The trek for today is almost the same with previous day but never boring, we will cross rivers, hills, and wilderness to track the pygmy elephants and other wildlife as well as the amazing plants. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and staying overnight at jungle camp. (B,L,D)


Day 06 AGISON RIVER  – BALATIKON – MALINAU

After breakfast, we will proceed back to Balatikon village to catch our car for driving back to Malinau town. Arrive at Malinau and directly check in to local hotel. (B,L,D)


Day 07 MALINAU – TARAKAN – DEPARTURE

Breakfast at local hotel and then driving to the port to catch the public speedboat crossing downward the river to reach Tarakan port. Arrive at the port and directly transfer to the airport to catch your afternoon flight to next destination. (B)

Borneo Jungle Trekking II

Duration: 08 Days/07 Nights

The Meratus mountain area is a native forest area located in the province of South Kalimantan, ranging from the northern to the southern and bordering with its neighbor province of East Kalimantan. The mountain range has been established as a protected area called the “Green Belt” since the Dutch Colonialism. It is home to diversity of flora and fauna, including the endemic species of Borneo, several species are in danger of becoming extinct and need to be protected to ensure their preservation.

This mountain range is unique for trekking and expedition through connected trails that lead travelers to mostly virgin forest combined with sightseeing the Bukit Dayak people who are still maintaining their ancestor belief and traditional way of life shows on dances and ritual in special occasions. Travelers can go in and out the forest over available pathways, climb up and down the hills, crossing bamboo bridges and rivers, or lodging at longhouse in remote villages. The trekking trails range between 2 hours until weeks in length, depending on the routes are chosen, camping in the forest may be required and stay overnight in the longhouse of native villages is also nice. The rainforest trails are not dangerous with careful, but mud and leaches make the trek difficult when it rains. Leeches however really no problem is since tobacco and mosquito repellent are really worth to kick them out.

Arrive at the village and take a rest while sightseeing the longhouse of Bukit Dayak. Afterwards, we will start our Borneo jungle trekking crossing through secondary rainforest, hills, hanging and suspended bamboo bridges, villager farmlands, rivers and cascades, cinnamon and rubber trees. Day 03 DATAR ALAI – JUMANTIR

After breakfast, we will be trekking to Sungai Karuh waterfall while exploring vegetation and animals on our trail. Next, we will be trekking uphill for about 2 hours to Jumantir by crossing dense primary rainforest. In the afternoon, we will learn from the Dayak man how to set the animal trap. (B,L,D)


Day 04 JUMANTIR – MOUNT BESAR PEAK

After breakfast, we will be trekking uphill through mossy trees and orchids to reach the peak of mount Besar, the roof of South Borneo where we can see beautiful panorama of Borneo dense jungle from above. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on bivouac/tent. (B,L,D)


Day 05 MOUNT BESAR PEAK – KATUAN

After packing up our stuff, we will be trekking down the peak to Katuan for about 5 hours. On our trail, we will hear and see plenty of gibbons jump on trees. We will set a campsite in the middle of the jungle to be more exploring the fascinating atmosphere of the nature, where both diurnal and nocturnal animals play role for the balance of ecology. Day 06 KATUAN – HARATAI

Jungle Trek & Wild Orangutan Tours

The Borneo rainforest is 130 million years old, 70 million years older than the Amazon forest, making it one of the oldest rainforests in the world. The island largely consists of dense jungle and mountains, much of the terrain is virtually impassable, and large areas are still unexplored. There are about 15,000 species of flowering plants with 3,000 species of trees (267 species are dipterocarps), more than 222 species of terrestrial mammals, 420 species of resident birds in Borneo, and more than 3,000 species of anthropod fauna with 1,000 species of it are ants. There are also about 440 freshwater fish species in this huge island, it is about the same as Sumatra and Java combined. Borneo is the center of the evolution and distribution of many endemic species of plants and animals. The Borneo rainforest is one of the few remaining natural habitats for the endangered Bornean orangutans, the only Asian Great Ape.

We will then continue our trip by driving across the beautiful peat swamp forest landscape to reach Jumpun Pambelom for observing the reforestation project on the peat swamp area. If we are lucky, we can meet wild orangutan and other wild animals on this small forest. Next, visiting the Bukit Tangkiling Nature Reserve to hike up the hill enjoying beautiful view of plain and rivers from the top as well as the romantic sunset outlook. Afterwards, proceed to the hotel for overnight. (B,L)


Day 06 PALANGKA RAYA –ORANGUTAN ISLAND – SEBANGAU NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, we will proceed to Tangkiling port for catching our motorized canoe to reach the Orangutan Island while sightseeing the romantic river and rainforest around, just keep an eye out for monkeys and birds. The orangutan island is managed by Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOSF) for orangutan rehabilitation before releasing to the wild. We will then driving across beautiful landscape of peat swamp forest into Kereng Pakahi Port to cross the Katingan River while sightseeing wildlife such as proboscis monkeys, kingfishers, hornbills, long tailed maccaques, etc. Afterwards, proceed to Sebangau National Park through Punggu Alas creek for check in to homestay. In a very dry condition of the creek, we have to trek for about 1,5 hours to reach the homestay at WWF Visitor Centre in Sabangau National Park. In the peaceful evening, we can do a night boating with hope to see nocturnal animals such as birds, snakes, insects, etc. (B,L,D)


Day 07 SEBANGAU NATIONAL PARK – PALANGKA RAYA

After breakfast on the creekside, we will do trekking with ranger into the jungle to explore flora and fauna such as orangutans, monkeys, birds, endemic vegetation, etc. Return to the camp for having lunch and take a rest. In the afternoon, we will check out the homestay and proceed back to Palangka Raya for check in to local hotel. (B,L,D)


Day 08 PALANGKA RAYA – DEPARTURE

Breakfast at hotel and free at your own leisure till the proper time for transferring to airport for your flight to next destination. (B)
